When people hear the red, white and blue, they think of patriotism for The United States of America! We celebrate the independence of our country of the 4th of July. We adorn our homes and gardens with red, white and blue items, representing our devotion to our country.
United States of America
For over two centuries the United States of America has stood as the iconic nation for Democracy. Therefore, people travel from other countries in hopes of achieving the American Dream. Allow that statement sink in … America is globally recognized for its Dream. So much so, that others seek to achieve the Dream which the USA offers its citizens.
American Patriotism
So, it is no wonder that Americans love to show their patriotism. Prior to sporting events, it’s proper etiquette to stand and with hand over heart as we sing the United States Anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
Patriotic Holidays
Every year we set aside Memorial Day and Veterans Day to honor those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces to keep the American Dream alive.
We set aside June 14th to celebrate Flag Day, commemorating the official adoption of the US flag. It celebrates the history and symbolic meaning of the American flag. Allowing us time to remember those who fought to protect the nation for which it stands.
September 17th : Constitution Day to memorialize the date that the Constitution was signed in 1787.
December 15th : Bill of Rights Day, celebrating the addition of the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution in 1791.
Independence Day
Let us not forget July 4th, also known as Independence Day. The 4th of July marks the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As kids we may not be aware of all the other “Adult” patriotic holidays, but we look forward and enjoy the America tradition of celebrating this holiday with parades, fireworks, and patriotic music.
Thomas Jefferson stated that Independence Day, “ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of the continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
Many of us share fond childhood memories of family traditions to celebrate the 4th of July, but the common thread unifying our memories uses the colors red, white, and blue during our celebrations. Therefore, these colors, taken from the American Flag are the symbolic colors associated with American patriotism.
Patriotic Flags
Flying the American flag recognizes and demonstrates the honor and appreciation for the many privileges the United States affords its citizens. Many Americans like to personalize their patriotic display with Garden décor, including Garden flags or House flags with patriotic images that use the colors red, white, and blue.
Patriotic flags easily display on flag stands installed by pushing them down into the lawn, flowerpots, or garden beds. These flags quickly and easily change out for any season or patriotic holiday.
